Etruscan Hoplites in combat. 4th century BC

Etruscan hoplites in combat against Celtic warriors. 4th century BC Digital paint. For this illustration I have based myself on the historical reenactment group Ruva Leu Leoni di Nemea which focuses on representing Etruscan warriors from the 5th-4th centuries BC. like other aspects of Etruscan daily life. In the illustration we can see the clear Greek influence in the equipment and combat tactics of the Etruscan warriors. We see several of the hoplites equipped with Chalkidian-Etruscan type helmets, one of them with a Negau type helmet with a transverse crest and in the background several Corinthian type helmets and some Hellenistic and Montefortino type helmets. (The latter of Celtic influence.) We can also see that they protect themselves with muscular bronze armor and linothorax armor. As weapons, they are all equipped with the Argive spear and shield. (The hoplite with the lion on the shield brandishes an Etruscan sword derived from the Greek kopis type). We can see the Celtic warriors with Montefortino-type helmets and some of their previous models.
